Frog team at 1st Global Amphibian and Reptile Disease Conference!

Updated: May 3, 2023

Three members of the frog research team presented their work at an international conference dedicated to the study of infectious diseases affecting Amphibians and Reptiles.

Between the 4-10th August 2022, the 1st Global Amphibian and Reptile Disease (GARD) Conference took place in Knoxville, TN. It was a fantastic event with > 230 professionals participating (from 25 countries and 6 continents) and 105 oral presentations (24 virtual).

Congratulations to Thais Sasso, Madelyn Mangan and Laura Grogan for presenting their work at GARD!

PhD candidates Thais and Madelyn gave great online presentations about their PhD. Thais talked on how pathogen’s eDNA associates with infection on hosts and the extreme conditions caused by climate change.

Madelyn presented preliminary results on demographic trends of species affected by disease.

Dr. Laura Grogan gave an excellent in person presentation. She talked about the concept of infection tolerance in the context of chytridiomycosis.

Her presentation had great repercussion with other researchers attending GARD. Laura also did a great job moderating one of the conference sessions.
