Overview

I am studying a Master of Animal Science with a field of study in wildlife biology. I am completing my research project under the supervision of Dr Laura Grogan and Dr April Reside.

I initially completed my Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at UQ in 2020, from there I worked as a vet tech in both small animal and exotics specialists. This is where I really nurtured my passion for avians and wildlife. I have always been intrigued by the latest research that can be applied in a clinical setting to improve patient care. My career goal is to transition from clinical nursing to a wildlife researcher.

Research overview

My research project is looking at how bird richness and density is affected by environmental factors such as precipitation, temperature, and vegetation health in semi-arid Australia. I will be conducting observational bird surveys and comparing it to historical data based on the same site.

Statistical analysis will look at trends and relationships between bird richness and environmental data. I hope that the results of this study can help us better understand the ecology of birds in arid and semi-arid landscapes so that we can make targeted conservation plans.
